"Kenya - The Way Forward" is part of a larger series of events to fundraise for a number of charities currently working in Kenya. These are Kenya Red Cross, Watoto Wa Kwetu and The Kenya Girl Guides Association. It took place last night and I performed my poem "Jinz", which, though I originally wrote it for my short film "G54", felt appropriate for the occasion.
Jinz went down pretty well, feedback from the audience included "Very powerful - it is the best poem about anger I've ever heard", "You made the audience listen to you, we were hanging on every single word you spoke. The audience was never so silent as during your speech", "Thank you for the words that speak what my mouth cannot form. Thank you for speaking my heart, for making me listen." |
